Curling

I fell in love with curling in 10th grade (2023). Now, as a 12th grader (2025), I’m still on the ice— learning strategy, communication, and how small gestures (a word, a sweep) change everything.

Why Curling?

  • It’s quiet strategy—reading ice, angles, and weight with your team.
  • It teaches empathy: clear calls, trust in your sweepers, and owning your misses.
  • It’s inclusive: different strengths shine—touch, focus, balance, communication.
  • Practice rhythm: drills for weight control, line, sweeping stamina, and calls.

On-ice Skills

  • Consistent draw weight (tee-line control)
  • Guard & tap shots under pressure
  • Sweeping: balance, pressure, and communication

Team Habits

  • Shot calling with clear yes/no feedback
  • After-shot debriefs—focus on what’s next
  • Warm-ups & cooldown to prevent injuries

Off-ice

  • Watching pro games to study ends & hammer choices
  • Notes on ice conditions & broom choices
  • Volunteer-helper for new curlers
